What does a church WiFi solution from Hotwireless include?
A router we supply, set up with the church's name and look after (from R1,549 once-off, ex VAT); a branded login page for congregants and visitors with acceptable-use terms and POPIA-aware consent wording; time and bandwidth limits on guest access; guest WiFi kept on its own network, separate from the church's own network and office; and support Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00 SAST.
How much does church WiFi cost in South Africa?
The monthly fee is R399, R599 or R799 per location per month, ex VAT, depending on the package. Each package covers 1 WiFi device managed; each extra router or access point is +R50 a month on Basic, +R100 a month on Basic + Data Collection and +R150 a month on Basic + Data + Guest Insights. The router costs from R1,549 once-off, ex VAT, and bigger buildings with access points and cabling are quoted per site. The internet line is not included. Hotwireless starts with an assessment so the church does not overbuy equipment.
Who supplies the internet line?
The church does. You supply and pay for your own connection, fibre, LTE or both, on your own ISP account, and no package includes it. We run the guest WiFi on that connection: all we need is a free network port, a power socket and a spot with good signal to the people using it.
Can WiFi support church livestreaming?
Yes, as long as the livestream is not competing with every phone in the building. Guest WiFi runs on its own network, separate from the church's own network where the office and the livestream equipment sit, and time and bandwidth limits on the guest side stop congregants' phones from taking the whole line. How much upload the livestream gets still depends on the church's own internet line.
Can we separate staff, livestream and guest WiFi?
Yes. Guest WiFi runs on its own network, separate from the church's own network where staff, the office and the AV and livestream equipment sit. Anything beyond that is scoped per site in the quote.
Can a church offer free WiFi to the community?
Yes. Churches and church halls can host controlled community WiFi with fair-use limits, a captive portal, reporting and optional free or voucher access.
Can we limit speed and stop one guest using the whole line?
Yes. Hotwireless can apply speed limits, session time limits and acceptable-use terms accepted at the login step, so one guest does not consume the whole connection.
Do old church buildings with thick walls need special WiFi?
Often, yes. Thick walls, long halls, galleries, vestries and outdoor overflow areas need proper access point placement instead of one central router.
Do we need fibre, LTE backup or both?
Many churches use fibre as the primary connection and LTE as backup for services, livestreaming and events. Hotwireless can help scope the right mix for the site.
Who looks after the WiFi once it is installed?
We do. The equipment is ours to supply, set up and look after, so nobody in the church office has to log into a router. Support runs Monday to Friday, 08:00 to 17:00 SAST.
